This is just a topic I want to put out there to get other people's views.
There is a website I found when searching high and low for a place to purchase a movie that has been released for a while that has one of my favorite actresses in it. In my search, the site I found has tons, and I mean *tons* of online movies that you can watch on your computer. Some you can download (for a *small* fee), but the one I viewed I was only able to watch through their site. I used this means to screencap the movie for the fansite's gallery that I run for this particular actress.
Anyway, I *am* going somewhere with this. While searching this site, I found that they have '10,000 B.C.' & 'Stop Loss' available to watch. This absolutely FLOORED me. You have no idea how tempted I am to watch them- not just for screencaps to post in Steven's gallery, but just to see '10BC' again and 'Stop Loss' for the first time. Money is sticky in the household right now, so it would save the $7 for a ticket to see it in the theaters.
Now here is where a person's morality should step in. Many, many people have watched these movies already, rated them, and reviewed them. For movies that are already released on DVD and have been for some time, I don't think it's as much of an issue to watch them on the computer, especially if you can't download them. But to be able to watch movies still in the theaters- or, heaven forbid- movies not yet released in the theaters, well I have a serious problem with that. It's called piracy, whether or not you can purchase it for your own.
This site is huge and it has more movies than any video store. My conscious is having a huge blowout with my raw adoration for Steven. I was curious what everyone here thought on this topic. Do you believe that it would be flat out just *wrong* to use these mods to watch the movies, even for non-profit and entertainment purposes? Do you think using them to add to a gallery is just as wrong?
Your thoughts, please! This topic truly intrigues me
